Why do we need another pyramid?

From Maslow to the sketchy “multilevel marketing” schemes we see every day, to Elon Musk’s claims, it seems the modern world has no shortage of pyramids. Why now? Why, at a time when trust is the world’s most valuable commodity, do we need yet another geometric shape forced into an infographic? 

Because of your amygdala, that’s why. 

Why do people do anything? Because they want to? Because they have to? Because they don’t care?
